E.P.L. Recording Studios - 1978

I started E.P.L. studios around 1978. A section of our old music store at 8 S. Walnut Street in Milford was rebuilt as studios and a control room. My friends Chris Foltz and Bob Barr helped with the construction of partitions to make the various rooms in the studio. Bill Etherington helped with studio wiring and contributed mics and gear. Our friend Tader did some very nice wal carpet patterns in th drum room.In the next years we did over 170 radio and TV jingles to keep the business funded and also recorded demo tapes and had records for many perfomers, bands and writers. We even recorded a New Age hindu relaxation chant album.  A group of players who served as the house band for demos, jingles  or records consisted of Ray Strube, Bob Barr, Rick Beck, Ed Benchoff (Tader), Steve Schellinger, Dave Brenton, Chris Pedler, Chris Foltz, Bill Larsen, Bobby Baker and Walt Alford. Later on Rick, Strube, Bobby , Steve, Tader and I created arrangements for our own original tunes, mostly written by either Tader or myself and around 1979 we started working on a group of tunes which would lead to the formation of our popular group "Tader and The Heart Beatz". We never released any of the tunes though. That group was very successful but ended in late 1981. By the end of  1981 Strube, Bon Barr and I had  completed about half of an album of originals I had written. Those were also arranged by Ray Strube, Bob Barr, Rick Beck and I. The same group later became "The Movies" band. A year later a 45 of "Photograph" was released nationally. I eventually closed the studio as a commercial business around 1985. I have kept a studio in my home and I am now completing a solo collection of original music. Over the past year I purchased more eight track analog tape equipment and I have saved the old "Movies" master tapes to digital. This coming year we are also working on a Movies album project which will include both remastered old tracks and newer Movies songs.
